    • Thank you Amy, your opinion means a lot to me. I hope you get the direction I’m taking with my writing which is to give voice, and thus invite empathy for the disaffected, the homeless, the insane . . . so that we recall that we are connected as a society, not to mention the human tribe. Poverty of essentials, of mind and of spirit are all closely so related. (So many homeless who are disturbed, so many veterans I talk to who are too confused and and untreated to even get the benefits to which they are entitled.)

I also feel strongly that reality, what happens both inside and outside of your head, is far more mystical than any fantasy can do justice to. My short stories in The Village of Light will demonstrate that; as it is hard growing gritty, sometimes horrific realities wrapped in a safe glittery fantasy package. Not that there’s anything WRONG with glitter, you understand! ;~)

I’m also getting paid gigs now to perform Spoken Word wiht acoustic musical accompaniment, in Encinitas, Escondido and San Diego. I’ve been told that if we can get a warm up spot at the Belly Up in Solana Beach, that that’s our ticket to venues in LA. Who knows? I’m performing under the brand of Stand up Tragedy®. If and when we get there and you want to pitch in on some PR and/or promo work, I should have made enough of a nest egg to even pay you for your time. Wouldn’t that be a miracle?

I’m DMing you a copy of the promo image for our performance on the 15th in Leucadia in case you know anyone in the area that might be interested in coming down or you happen to be in the neighborhood. Of course it would be free for you or any of your friends; just use your name as your Open Sesame.

Great to be in touch and someday soon I’ll actually come up and see you if you dont get down here first!

      Best, Igor

    • Thank you. It’s really going down well at public readings. I always start by saying that this is a poem about Joe, who is someone you’ve all met, someone you all know. Giving a voice to the disaffected is one small thing I can do to rekindle empathy. To care about another is to free yourself enough to care about your true self.
